We had such a great time celebrating Juneteenth in Tidewater Gardens and dedicating our newest public art #AsphaltArtInitiative mural, “The Gathering Place” by Dañetta Evans painted with community volunteers! The project was made possible by a grant Norfolk Arts & Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia received from Bloomberg Philanthropies to create asphalt art in each of the 3 Norfolk Police Patrol Districts. Watch for our final project in Denby Park in 2021.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, especially the Norfolk Express Double Dutch Team and Officer Green of the NPD who brought her #AGame too!
Thank you to Youth Poet Laureate Ambassador Ayana Askew and Councilwoman Royster, Crop Circle Gourmet, DJ Jokin’ Joe, NPD Copsicle, all of our volunteers, our fabulous face painters & photo booth operators, SevenVenues for lending us the pop-up tents, and everyone behind the scenes who helped make the event possible.
