Community Celebration Event

Celebrate the asphalt art project created by Mensah Bey at the Five Points Neighborhood Spot
6123 Sewells Point Road: 1-3pm w/ free tacos and popsicles, music and more.

The City of Norfolk together with the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast VA is a proud recipient of a Bloomberg Asphalt Art Initiative Grant. Out of 200 applicants 16 were selected.
3 asphalt art murals will be completed by 2021. The 1st project titled: “Gather In Abundance” by Mensah Bey was completed 10/15/2020.

The Asphalt Art Initiative grant program funds visual art interventions on roadways, pedestrian spaces, and public infrastructure in small-and medium-sized U.S. cities (with populations of 30,000–500,000) with goals of improving street and pedestrian safety, revitalizing and beautifying underutilized public space, and promoting collaboration and civic engagement in local communities. Out of 200 applications, Norfolk Arts along with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Virginian were one of 16 selected.
