Offsite Gallery “Art of African American Artists 2015” curated by Maizelle

Gia Labidi is a self-taught visual artist. Inspired by the feminine, Gia uses a variety of media to create artwork that is both inspiring and thought-provoking.
Inspiration comes from multiple sources including nature, dreams, and other artists. Some of her favorite artists are Picasso, Freda, and Faith Ringwall.

She enjoys working with neutral colors and afro-centric themes. A prevasive theme in Gia’s work is the feminine. She focuses on femininity as a divine essence that creates and reproduces.

Her informal training produces a unstructured creative process where she doesn’t sketch beforehand and trusts that the materials will speak to her and let her know what they want to become.
