Offsite Gallery: Blue Musings February 25-April 28, 2023

Hanna Kirby is VCU alum with experience participating in digital illustration, graphic design, and mural painting. Hanna has worked on several large scale murals with the City of Virginia Beach and the City of Norfolk. Hanna is the Director of Operations and Communications for the Hunter House Victorian Museum in Norfolk, VA.

Opening February 25, 2023, 1-3pm at our Offsite Gallery, Suite #287, MacArthur Center, 300 Monticello Ave., Norfolk, VA 23510:
“Blue Musings” is a study of nature and a practice of artistic mindfulness. Using the historical process of cyanotype and collage, Kirby has created unique compositions of found florals and historical photographs that touch on the themes of motherhood, family, and the duality of the intense love and intense sadness of postpartum depression. Each piece is a practice in artistic mindfulness, of living in the moment of creation.

The community is invited to contribute to a collaborative origami project installation during the opening reception. Kirby will lead guests in the creation of origami butterflies made from cyanotypes on vintage paper that will be assembled upon the wall. Free and open to the public.
