Jennifer Hand is an artist, writer, mother, and veteran based in Virginia Beach. Her creative practice uses the allure of glass and kitsch in a lush palette of pinks to critique the cultural pressures exerted on the lives and bodies of women. Jennifer holds an MA in Critical Craft Studies from Warren Wilson College and a BFA in Craft with a Minor in Art History from Virginia Commonwealth University. Jennifer’s work has been lauded and exhibited internationally, including a 2025 Virginia Beach Artist Support Grant, the 2022 Corning Museum of Glass Rakow Research Grant, and a 2018 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Undergraduate Fellowship.
Jennifer is a Visual Arts Instructor at the Governor’s School for the Arts and serves as the Manager of Special Programs for Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. She is the Board President of the 757 Creative Reuse Center, a nonprofit dedicated to sustainability and equitable access to the arts in the Hampton Roads region.
