Black Voices & Visions on view through 04/03/26 to patrons during ticketed events. Free and open to the public during Arts at the Attucks free events.

“Many of my paintings explore the everyday condition of humanity with the individual as subject: the internal and external struggles wrestled with on a daily basis—the varied and wide-ranging expressions of emotion. The subjects strive to attain, through daily life-struggle, a sense of self-awareness, self-identity, self-knowledge, self-acceptance, and finally self-love. This ‘Self’ exploration is vital for an individual to fully, confidently, and honestly, engage with the world. Even when there are no humans present there is an attempt to express our human connection with the world around us through sensory experience.

Another commonality many of the subjects in my paintings share is an underdog quality, rather than the already glorified champion. I personally connect more with art that, to me, hints at this view. I feel that the underdog represents most of us, all striving to be better, to be more—hardly ever attaining our idealized selves, but nevertheless always pursuing a feeling of true happiness.”
