Offsite Gallery October 21 – December 2, 2022

Rodney Godfrey Jr. is an artist based out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Primarily a painter, he has recently taken a liking to a surrealistic approach to art making, often using forms that may or may not feel possible, offering a look into the subconscious. Rodney studied in the School of Visual Arts at Virginia Tech.

Rodney states “I believe there’s so much nonvisual stuff that goes on inside and outside of us, and it’s interesting to see how I can translate it visually. My art is an extension of me and, that said, I understand that there’s a lot inside that language simply falls short of articulating. As an artist, I have an opportunity to take what God already created and rearrange it so that people pay attention to it. Sometimes things are recognizable. Other times, less so.”
