Vieno is a multidisciplinary artist residing in the lower East Side of New York City. He creates assemblages, paintings and music that lie within a fictional world he calls “The Land of the Black Sun”. Each work serves as an anthropological study of fictional locations created from places he has lived. Guided by instinct, he gathers words thoughts and materials. By collaging moments together, he hopes to create a transcendence of time that serves as a window between past and present. Vieno has exhibited in Georgia, NY, New Jersey and Fukuoka, Japan. He received a BFA in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design and is currently working towards a BFA in Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts in NY City.
The content of his work is deeply rooted in personal experiences with racism, classism, and death. Furthermore, he draws heavily from second hand experiences with war, which he has sourced from family members, literature, and film.
