In October 2012, Chris worked with students from Virginia Wesleyan to paint donated skateboard decks that were used to create ”Skate Trees” to provide shade at the park. Locals gathered at the park for a “PAINT THE DECKS” party where children and adults painted their own skateboard deck. Chris bolted these decks onto sweeping steel tubes to create benches that resemble giant leaves. Eventually the boards warped and have since been replace with metal.
