Alora Bess is a Virginia based multidisciplinary artist who’s capturing the world through her lens. Telling the story of the black experience and all it’s nuances. Allowing those who view her work to step into the world she not only creates but lives daily. Stripping down the barriers of thought while challenging the norms of societal expectations.
Alora creates space for all to explore their artistic talents at Studio Kuumba. Working and facilitating in her private studio located in the Historic West Freemason District. A space she created not only for her self but for those who also have a story to tell. She has shown works in the Virginia Beach MOCA, Chrysler Museum of Art and AnkhLave “Echos of home” Kenya exhibition . Showcasing her diverse style from acrylic painting to large installations.
“My artwork explores the intersection of identity and shared experience. I often draw inspiration from black American culture. Connecting the diaspora through past, present and future. Taking in my surroundings, using acrylic paint and mixed media to create unique and evocative pieces. Through my work, I aim to challenge viewers to consider the beauty and complexity of the black experience.”
