Deborah Small has been an exhibiting artist with Norfolk Arts on several occasions. Deb exhibited during “Say It Loud”, “Art of African American Artists”, & “2017 Renaissance”. Deb also exhibited as part of the “Gertrude’s Art Group Exhibition” curated by Jean Peacock. A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, Deb Smalls work is primarily in mixed media and fiber. In 1974, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from then Norfolk State College.

Debs work attempts to express experiences, concerns, aspirations, and uniqueness. African and Native American heritage are evident in each piece.
