As an artist, I aspire to create art that is meaningful and relatable. My art evokes black excellence, love and originality. I aim to capture the elegance and originality in what it means to be black. I want all people to be able to connect and relate to my work.

With my work I like to use people of color to depict the topics of love, togetherness and greatness. With acrylic paint my depiction of random nameless figures are full of emotion that come to life on canvas.

Julian says, “This opportunity to have my work in City Hall really blessed me. I had no idea when or if l’d ever come back to art but this gave me the push I needed because I know my dad wouldn’t want me to stop.

It all began with a surgery. During the recovery period I turned to art as my only stress reliever. With the long days of physical therapy and sleepless nights, art became the punctuation of peace and clarity for me.
The following two years would be the starting point of my journey into the world of art. Through some hard work, sleepless nights and consistency, I became a constant in the Hampton Roads area.

I started displaying at open mic nights, collaboration events, and pop-up shops. Then expanding into new areas including: Richmond, VA, Washington DC, Baltimore, MD and even New York.

My love of art has also culminated into having three successful solo exhibitions, a mini documentary, along with many other accolades and recognitions of work.

I’ve enjoyed learning to master the medium of acrylic paints while also experimenting with many styles. I am inspired by the work of Ray Johnson, Clayton Singleton, Chris Clark, and Tommy Mitchell.”
