Vinnie Bagwell began sculpting for public places in 1995. Immediately, her passion became creating powerful images that represent under-spoken people of color. Storytelling and creating authentic art that conveys the truth, shares the history and elevates the culture of marginalized people became core values for her sense of responsibility as an artist. Each character is designed to inform viewers that artistry is a powerful and useful tool of social transformation; one capable of condensing our thoughts, distilling our minds, and renewing our hopes and aspirations. “My subjects have souls which speak to the viewer, and they are meant to be engaged.”
