The site is in the Blue-Greenway Parking Lot, which will be the main area for 60+ vehicles to park. It will be located at the only park entrance on Brambleton Ave.
The artwork will provide a safe and attractive spot for rest both day and night. After parking, the art piece will be a backdrop as people unload or reload their belongings. After walking along the Blue-Greenway, or more active recreation at the YMCA or the Courts nearby, the 20’x60′ pergola will provide shade. Lighting will be carefully placed and create as few blind spots as possible.
The artwork structure will be created of 8″x8″ Hot dip galvanized Zinc with coated steel posts, 4″x8″ girders and coated steel slats for shade. The text will be cut into zinc-coated steel, and during the day the sun will burn the words onto the ground – honoring the tightknit Tidewater Gardens community. The pavement will contain a glowing aggregate so that “It takes a village…” will be illuminated every night. There will also be LED general lighting and uplighting on the underside.
