Offsite Gallery 2017 “Gertrude’s Art Exhibition” curated by Jean Peacock

Deb Munroe started Deb Munroe Studio years ago, when she was juried into the d’Art Center in downtown Norfolk, VA. In early 2016, she moved her studio to her home in beautiful historic Portsmouth, VA. Deb opened a new studio and artist gallery located in downtown Suffolk the “Sassy Green Gallery” in 2018. As a metal artist, she creates jewelry and mixed media sculptures using Precious Metal Clay (PMC).

PMC is a new revolutionary way to work with metal, only introduced into the metal market about 20 years ago. It starts as clay, with microscopic metal particles in the clay. PMC can be manipulated into shapes, molds and textured. Once dry, it is fired in a kiln at temperatures ranging from 1550-1740 degrees. During this process is when the magic happens! The clay portion burns away and the metal sinters and fuses together, leaving a pure metal piece to work with.
