Kim Keene opened the shop in January, 2014, as the Paint Gallery. At that time it was a frame shop, art gallery, and working art studio where painting classes were offered. Bridget Varney attended one of Kim’s paint classes, and soon after, she and Kim started talking about opening a cafe inside the gallery. Bridget had restaurant experience and always dreamed of having her own cafe. Kim was the starving artist so it was a perfect plan.
The Starving Artist Cafe was started with help of many friends including Robyn Thomas of Robyn Thomas Architecture, Greg Starling of R&R Construction and Rick Henn of Rick Henn Consulting.
The cafe serves breakfast and lunch all day. Paint classes/parties are still offered in the evenings. Artwork displayed is by local artists Kathy Jublou, Barrett Pope, Clayton Singleton, Stacy Goode, Debbie Miller and more. The featured artist is always changing.
