Budget: $500 per artwork.
Previously selected billboard artists are not eligible to apply. Open to artists over 18 years of age residing in the Adams Outdoor Norfolk regional coverage area which includes: Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, York County, Isle of Wight and Moyock, NC. No exceptions.
Due to the extreme width requirement, each billboard submission (up to 3 entries per artist) may include more than one artwork formatted side by side as a diptych or triptych. If your artwork is not formatted to visually show how it will fit properly in an extreme horizontal format, then your artwork may not be considered.
All artwork styles and disciplines will be accepted. As determined by the US Copyright Office, we cannot legally use artwork that has no creator such as images created solely by generative AI. If using internet images or the work of other artists, you must have permission from the original artist. If you have used AI in any way, please explain under the image description. You may be questioned specifically about how the work has been altered or adapted.
No text or QR codes may be used in any part of the artwork. Norfolk Arts will consider the diversity of beliefs and values and general standards of decency of the citizens of the City of Norfolk. We retain the right to refuse entry of artwork at our sole discretion.
The most effective images will be visible immediately and from a distance. Awards will be based on factors such as aesthetic value, creativity and contemporary relevance.

Submit the following by midnight, September 30, 2024 via Entry Thingy below:
Up to 3 JPEG or PNG images (formatted as a diptych or triptych if your submission incorporates more than 1 artwork).
In order for you images to upload, they must be scaled to:
Maximum file size: 5mb
Minimum file size: 100kb
Minimum image width: 50px
Required information includes: Full Name, Address, Phone Number and Email address
You will be prompted to type an up to 100 word bio. and/or add a resume in the appropriate box. (Note: You are able to copy and paste)
You will be asked for title of artwork, material and a description of each artwork.
If selected, you will be notified in November and will be required to provide a PDF of your image that meets the following specifications:
Resolution: 300 dpi
Color space: CMYK
Document Size: 24″ w x 5.683″ h
If selected, you will be required to submit a W9 and register as a City of Norfolk Vendor to receive payment.
