D’ART CENTER SUMMER CAMP
REGISTER

The d’Art Center offers Summer Camp for 6 weeks in June, July, and August. The first 5 weeks feature activities such as clay, mixed media, technology and digital art, and art on the move. Daily activities correspond to a weekly theme that presents a different lesson plan that combines art with STEM! Students learn from professional art educators and d’Art’s on-site resident artists. Throughout these weeks they work collaboratively, enjoy short field trips, and create unique art projects using a variety of media and techniques. The 6th week offers 5 specialty tracks for campers to choose from. Each week of camp is Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm, and parents may drop off their children using the NEW drive-through drop off beginning at 8:00am. An aftercare option from 3:00pm-6:00pm is also available!

HERMITAGE MUSEUM SUMMER CAMP
AGES 6-10
$200 members/$230 non-members

The camp day runs from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with lunch and outdoor time (weather permitting) from 12:00 –1:00 p.m. The camp day ends promptly at 4:00 p.m. No aftercare is available.
Campers will focus on several artistic mediums with the goal of completing a work of art in each medium. Lessons include a brief discussion on the history of the medium and examples of famous works in that medium. By the end of the week, campers will have created a mini-portfolio to share with family, friends, and teachers. Each week incorporates a special tour of the museum, guest instructors, artist demonstrations, a nature walk, and time in the gardens and grounds. No previous art instruction is necessary.

Guided by the theme “dream big”, children will learn mindful movement practices that build confidence, encourage creative expression and focus. Campers will make vision boards, dream jars, yarn wall-hangings and more.

“Little delights” will be the inspiration for introducing children to finding joy in the smallest of things – yoga poses, meditation games, story-telling and calming crafts such as constructing fidget toys, folding fortune tellers out of paper, and making seed bombs are just some of the planned activities.

HALF DAY STORYBOOK CAMP

Ballet Virginia’s Storybook Camps offer exciting and age-appropriate experiences in ballet, tap, choreography and story creation plus costume and set design. These half-day camps end with a newly created “Storybook” ballet performance.

Ballet Virginia Academy students must currently be in Levels 1, 2, 3 or 4. New students must have at least one year of ballet training. No audition necessary.
WEEK ONE: August 2 to 6 for Levels 1 through 4 or ages 7 to 14
WEEK TWO: August 9 to 13 for Levels 3 through 7 or ages 10 to 16

AfterCare
After-Care is available for campers who need to be picked up after regular camp hours. Available per day or entire session. You are required to sign up for after care at the time of enrollment. Campers will watch videos of Hurrah shows and can also bring books and other quiet activities to do during this unstructured playtime.

🔹 Informal presentation will be in studio at 11:30am on Friday, 6/25 for parents, with a maximum of two guests per student
🔹TRDance has implemented safe studio procedure including frequent cleaning with an approved anti-viral spray and GUV lights on during studio use, temperature checks on entry, masks worn the full duration of the camp, and social distancing will be required.

THE MUSE WRITERS CENTER has several writers workshops, comic workshops and more that start in June and run through August. You can find the right class for you by genre or in a searchable calendar. Tuition assistance and flexibility is always available if you need it. You’ll find introductory classes, workshops, and studios in Poetry, Fiction, Memoir & Creative Nonfiction, Screenwriting, Comics/Graphic Novels, Storytelling, Songwriting, as well as many great classes for Kids and Teens. Plus they have a great series of all-new craft, creativity, research, and professional development seminars.

Spotlight Productions Theatre Camp for Youth is a Musical Theatre Summer Camp for kids ages 8-12 located at Virginia Wesleyan University. We offer kids an experience like no other! We believe that every child deserves to be in the spotlight so we make the show fit the actor. Day 1, we have a big audition to fit your child in the best role for them! Throughout the week, each child will receive onstage and offstage acting training, character analysis, script reading, dance and music training and experience understanding how to put a show together. At the end of the week students will perform a 1 hour musical that will be streamed for family and friends.

Spotlight Productions Theatre Camp for Youth is a Musical Theatre Summer Camp for teens ages 13-18 located at Virginia Wesleyan University. We believe that every child deserves to be in the spotlight so we make the show fit the actor. Day 1, we have a big audition to fit our teens with the best role for them! Throughout the two weeks, each participant will receive acting tips, character analysis, choreography and music training. During the time at camp, participants will also participate in a Master Class taught by a visiting Broadway Actor. At the end of the two weeks participants will perform a 2 hour musical, with live music, that will be streamed for family and friends.
