Join us November 2, 12:30-1pm at Five Points Park and Plaza as we kick-off a night of football in the park with the dedication of our newest public artwork.
“Grass Dome” by Sean Orlando of Engineered Artworks is a 22-ft in diameter immersive sculpture, created to serve as a gathering place, and an interactive space for creative contemplation within the park and the busy Five Points neighborhood.
This placemaking piece creates a gateway into Five Points Park and Plaza, the new public greenspace adjacent to the Five Points intersection. Grass Dome reflects local grasses, as well as the nearby urban form of the circular intersection.
This project was commissioned by Norfolk Arts and the community to be a central feature of the new park.
Engineered Artworks, led by founder Sean Orlando, is a group of artists, designers, fabricators, and engineers that make large-scale art come to life. Based in the innovative Seaport Art Studios Building in Richmond, California, they design and build one-of-a-kind public art installations and immersive creative experiences, while supporting a broad community of artists and organizations with fabrication and technical design services.
