Applications are open for our next exhibition at The Gallery at the Attucks located inside the historic Attucks Theatre in downtown Norfolk, VA! Delegate Jackie Hope Glass will be jurying the exhibition and selecting up to 50 original works of art created by artists 18+ with a connection to Hampton Roads.
Jazz Got Loose at the Attucks celebrates jazz not only as a musical form but as a cultural movement rooted in New Orleans’ Black communities—a movement defined by freedom, resistance, identity, and transformation. We are seeking artwork that explores themes of liberation, resilience, social change, individuality, and the courage to push against convention. Work that is politically charged, narrative-driven, or rooted in cultural critique is welcome. Black artists and artists whose work reflects the cultural legacy of the Attucks Theatre are especially encouraged to apply.
If your 2-D artwork (not exceeding 50lbs.) embodies the spirit of jazz—improvisational, textured, vibrant, mood setting, immersive—we invite you to submit up to 3 jpeg images by September 10, 2026.
