To combat problems, such as poverty, homelessness, and help at Christmas, The Salvation Army has teamed up with local media to host holiday campaigns aimed at providing help to those who need it most in Hampton Roads.

Welcome the holiday season with favorite songs and carols. Prize-winning guitarist Dr. Todd Holcomb joins the Virginia Chorale in intimate works for chorus and guitar including Alf Houkom’s The Rune of Hospitality, and Jeffrey Van’s Fourteen Angels. And to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth, the Chorale performs Hanerot Halalu, the Chanukah classic by Louis Lewandowski.

Hermitage Museum and Gardens
The Great Hermitage Holiday

Travel through the decorated back lawn and heated tents to experience a variety of performances and activities. LAVA Presents will get you in the spirit with unique versions of holiday favorites and original tunes performed by regional favorites Berries and Fox and the Bear. End the night dancing to the sounds of DJ Tmobyle. Be mesmerized by the tricks of magician, Hunter Rhodes, indulge in our complimentary hot chocolate bar, snap holiday photos at our selfie station, and create your own vintage holiday cards. Guests are invited inside the museum to tour the festive Great Hall and view this year’s Gingerbread House display participants. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres from Omar’s Carriage House and Mission BBQ and purchase beer, wine, and mixed beverages from the bar. Valet parking will be available.
The Hermitage is collecting donations for the Union Mission throughout this event.
Guests are encouraged to contribute.

From its inception 15 years ago, “Arts For Life” has brought together internationally recognized local artists like Narissa Bond, Julie Clark, Mindy Brown and groups like Todd Rosenlieb Dance, Virginia Ballet Theatre, Virginia Stage Company, Actor’s Workshop of Virginia, The Governor’s School for the Arts, Virginia Opera, and the Virginia Symphony amongst others, in a benefit concert that raises awareness and grants support to the LGBT LIFE CENTER.
Each year, Local visual artists and businesses donate their work and services for a silent auction and raffle along with concert ticket sales, raises thousands of dollars each year and donates every dollar raised to help support people living with HIV in Hampton Roads.

Holiday Yule Log Bonfire and Christmas Marketplace

Filled with plenty of holiday cheer and good tidings, the Holiday Yule Log Bonfire and Christmas Marketplace, is the perfect way to welcome in the holiday season. For one afternoon, Town Point Park along the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront is transformed into a festive outdoor wonderland highlighted by a towering Yule Log Bonfire and also featuring a local artisans market, Christmas caroling, hot chocolate and whiskey tastings, and a visit from the Big Man himself! The event is free (including Santa visits) and open to the public.
