Norfolk Arts and the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast VA are proud recipients of the Bloomberg Asphalt Art Initiative Grant. Out of 200, Norfolk was one of 16 selected.
The Asphalt Art Initiative grant program funds visual art interventions on roadways, pedestrian spaces, and public infrastructure in small-and medium-sized U.S. cities (with populations of 30,000–500,000) with goals of improving street and pedestrian safety, revitalizing and beautifying underutilized public space, and promoting collaboration and civic engagement in local communities.
The Asphalt Art Initiative grant program is supporting pilot projects in 16 small and medium-sized U.S. cities to demonstrate the impact of asphalt art projects and encourage cities to develop their own processes for implementing these low-cost activations effectively. Winners were announced in June 2020, and projects will be installed in 2020 and 2021.
