According to the National Institute of Mental Health, socially isolated older adults are at higher risk for depression, especially around the holidays.

To make sure seniors feel loved and included, #NorfolkVA’s Department of Human Services adopted the residents of Madonna Home Assisted Living Facility and treated them to a musical celebration where they received lots of love, gifts and fellowship! 🎁

Thank you to Norfolk Arts grantees PrimePlus Senior Centers and Tidewater Arts Outreach for partnering with the Mayor’s Commission on Aging and Long-Term Care, Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, for this event. And a special shoutout to Singer/Recording Artist Myra Smith “The Phoenix” for performing!

Thank you to Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney, JenCare Senior Medical Center, Norfolk Sheriff’s Office’s Project Life Saver and the Norfolk Family Justice Center for donating all the gifts and goodies!

Norfolk’s Adult Services is here for senior residents.
