For the first time, the Attucks will expand its stage to include visual art, bringing together the performing and visual arts in a single, transformative space. We are proud to announce Black Voices and Visions, the inaugural exhibition of The Gallery at the Attucks, a group show spotlighting the vision, power, and imagination of Black artists with connections to Hampton Roads. The exhibition will debut alongside the Old Dominion University Literary Festival and a new dance by Christal Brown and INSPIRIT dance company, inspired by the poetry of Norfolk based poet and educator, Remica Bingham-Risher from her acclaimed collection What We Ask of Flesh.

We invite Black visual artists living, working, or connected to Hampton Roads in some way, to apply for this landmark exhibition. Be part of this historic moment. Let your work speak in the place where legends have stood.

Eligibility:
Black artists 18 years of age or older with connection to Hampton Roads.

Medium:
Contemporary works created in any visual medium not to exceed 50lbs.

Application Requirements:
1) Up to 3 works of art for consideration (High-resolution images, 72 dpi minimum)
2) Title, medium, dimensions, year, and a brief description for each work.
3) Artist bio (max 250 words)
4) Artist statement (max 300 words)
5) Contact information.
